自我介紹/ 經驗 Self-Introduction/ Past experiences :

I have always been fascinated about our relationship with technology. Before ever being able to touch a computer I had long fastasized about virtual worlds, contemplating electronic boards and chips as a lifeform of their own. From the perspective of a simple upbringing in the Brazilian countryside I took a professional training on the field of Mechatronics, a field that claimed to be the intersection between the phisicality of mechanics and the non phisicality of electronics, giving birth to fantastic creatures such as robots and automated machines.

I have then found myself inside an enormous steel plant where I worked as an electrician, my task was to maintain this organisms nervous system. A gigantic organism that transformed minerals, stones into steel used to make cars and other gadgets. This world was complex and fascinating, which led to to continue exploring its inner workings and further understand the devices that regulate this system. This trip then took me to another job, this time I entered the world of marine technology. My task was to install and maintain the automation of propeller systems, the moving element of the aquatic machine. A couple of years later I had sailed different oceans and rivers inside all kinds of ships ,observing and interacting with ever evolving technology. One dark night sailing the Amazon river, the sky was so bright from the stars and the loud humming of the big ship mixed with sounds of the wind. This moment was crucial to move on studying the interaction between machines and living ecosystems.

The peripheric condition of environment brought a big delay between technology conception and its use, and to bring new systems to life I should go somewhere the technology was being created. A quest to Germany led me to work with a Biotechology startup that created living tissue with 3d printed scaffolds, a field called tissue engineering. The very own mechatronic systems I had long observed was weaving strands into fractal patterns that would later house cells, and end up as living tissue inside a human body.

Now I am interested about integrating this quest into the very culture and tradition that nurtured me. Creating circuits made for our bodies to be able to further explore the interaction of carbon based and silicon based systems.

想分享的技術或技藝或概念 Technique/Concept that I want to share :

Using sensors to capture signals from the body and connecting with multimedia projects that could be used for performances.

I will contribute with a simple circuit, consisting of a pulse sensor and few movement sensors that can control visuals and sound. The system shall be easy to integrate into different textiles and bodies and interfacing with open software and hardware such as Arduino and Puredata to easily control and integrate other systems.

(sorry for this image, lol) will improve later
